When land is disturbed at a construction site, the erosion rate accelerates dramatically. Since ground cover on an undisturbed site protects the surface, removal of that cover increases the site’s susceptibility to erosion. Disturbed land may have an erosion rate up to 100x greater than a pre-construction rate. In addition to causing instability, the movement of soil through runoff into downstream water bodies degrades environmental quality, increasing water temperatures and decreasing the amount of sunlight captured by aquatic vegetation. RedVector’s permanent soil erosion control training course will familiarize engineers, architects and contractors with the design and application of different management practices for permanent soil erosion control and sediment control. This engineering training course will also teach control of erosion by outlining specific site characteristics, such as area of drainage basin and terrain slope.
